History

The Thomas M. Amato Company was established in 1915, when Thomas M. Amato came to New York as a young man from a small town in Sicily.

Thomas was a skilled cabinet maker, having studied his trade in Florence before coming to New York City and opening his furniture repair shop in downtown Manhattan.

Eventually, Thomas’ four sons joined him in business and expanded their services to include reupholstery, leather restoration, wood refinishing and reconditioning.

Word soon spread and it was not long before architects, designers, furniture dealers, property managers and anyone looking for fine restoration work, were seeking their services.

As the volume of work increased, The Amato Family needed increasingly larger facilities. Their first move was to Washington Street in The Financial District, then to Greenwich Street in Tribeca, and ultimately to their 15,000 Sq. Ft. facility in Hunters Point, Long Island City, Queens, overlooking the beautiful skyline of Manhattan.

Thomas M. Amato Co., Inc is now A Third Generation Company run by brothers, John and Peter Amato and their dedicated staff – some who have been with them for 30 years or more.

Every Job, large or small, is a reflection of their company.

So, no matter the size of the project or company, The Amato Team treats each customer with the highest level of respect.

The Thomas M Amato Company has set the highest standards in the industry, using only the finest materials and never cutting corners.

Peter and John Amato are involved in every project with attention to detail as the main priority.

Today, Peter and John Amato continue to provide the same Old World quality, craftsmanship and customer service that their grandfather brought to our country over one hundred years ago.
